Software for the Visually Impaired -> There is NO COMPETITION
This post is based on my personal experience
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is pretty much no market competition out there that can help visually impaired people using computers. Laptops, with farther and smaller screens, are even harder to use.
When I was in elementary school, I was given a laptop for school use. The laptop came with a software called ZoomTet. It is one of the most popular screen magnifiers. It works very, very well however. The thing is.. it is terribly expensive. The least expensive version of ZoomText is $395 (as stated from the ZoomText website). The price puts it out of reach for many who require it. Windows Vista and XP also come with magnifiers, but they are terribly hard to use.
Zoomtext’s website states, “Our goal is to make computers accessible.”
….accessible my ass
Some PLEASE write a programme that is decent like ZoomText and sell it for a reasonable price. I said please.
LOL,, yea agreed,, if they are going to make something to benefit people, they should at least make it cheaper so people can actually get it,,
the thing is,, according to economics,, the big tradeoff issue between equality and efficiency always come crashing with eachother,,
if they do make it cheaper,, it means less profit for them (which is not in their self-interest to do so),, but by sacrificing their profit,, they can benefit (equality) to those who needs it,,
then again,, this world is never an utalitarian place rite?
it’s ideal,, but in reality,, most producers would rather be selfish & generate greater profit sacrificing the needs of the needy,,, much like the same issue with AIDS medicine,,
hahaha,, you must be wondering coco’s gone nuts with economics,, yeahh,, when you’ve studied 5 chapters of econ,, this is what you get T-T
hahahah holy WOWW
well it’s true that they will make less profit, but wouldn’t more people buy the software that way? In a sense, the amount you make is like an upside down parabola. You want to find the maximum y value, which also represents the maximum profit and benefit
gd job of interpreting a graph jacky,,,
you’re rite,,,
except you have to know the elasticity of this product first…
well to my understanding… if a product isn’t broadly demanded by ppl,,, then not many suppliers would be supplying this rite? there is a fixed amount of supply… n fixed amount of demand… even if you cut down your price… it doesn’t necessarily mean demand will increase… it depends on the price elasticity of demand of the product,,, therefore,, elasticity & the demand of this product are extremely important factors in the outcome of profit with this product,,,
